Error Message: "Please check GMail and YouTube account configuration. Can't authorize the account to be used with YouTube."
A common issue when attempting to authenticate your Google credentials to set up YouTube collections in X1 Social Discovery, is encountering an error message that reads: "Please check Gmail and YouTube account configuration. Can't authorize the account to be used with YouTube." This error typically indicates that the selected Google account does not have a YouTube channel.
Prior to authenticating your YouTube account to work with Social Discovery, Google now requires that users first create a channel for the YouTube account that will be used with Social Discovery. No content needs to be uploaded to the Examiner channel, one just needs to be created.
To create a YouTube channel, open an internet browser, navigate to www.youtube.com and log in to the account that you plan to use as your Social Discovery Examiner account. Once there, select the Menu icon (the three horizontal lines in the upper left-hand corner) to open up the account options menu. Select account settings, and then "Create a Channel." Once the channel has been successfully created, feel free to close the browser, Launch X1 Social Discovery and log in to your account through the YouTube scanner. You are now ready to begin your YouTube collections.
